Parish Poll, Queues were reported at all polling stations.

Results Resounding Yes Vote 3040-Yes 15-No 3 spoilt papers.

Turnout was more than twice the national average for parish polls.

The True percentage turnout was about 47% when you take the factors below into account.

Parish Polls are only run for 5 hours instead of the usual 15 hours. (so not everyone could get to vote)

There is no postal or proxy voting at a parish poll.
(so not everyone got to vote)

Total eligible voters 21,641 less 20% for postal voters etc. = only 17312 voters available not 21,641

On average 1 vote was cast at every polling station every minute (now that's classed as brisk)

In the alloted 5 hour period 3058 votes were cast,
so if we divide 3058 by 5 = 612 vote an hour.

Normal elections run for 15 hours 15 x 612 = 9180

The turnout is the nubber of eligible voters divided by the number of atual voters 17312/9180 = 53% turnout
Knock off say 10% for voting slowdown at the end, it still is equilivant to 43% Turnout which is extremely high.

The Council did not send out poll cards (so not everyone knew about the parish poll)

Many people did not know where to vote and Some people who were entitled to vote were turned away (Lost votes)
